Chug and Grub in Topsail Island

Service was horrible! Our party had 3 adults and one child. It was about 130 and not busy. The bartender forgot to put in our appetizer order and then later proceeded to forget to put in the child’s meal until our food was brought out to the table. He did not check on us to see if we needed anything, or when he did he kept walking. Honestly will not give this place the time of day.

The quality of the food is very high for the price paid. Loved the Sesame Tuna. Homemade tater tots were awesome. Definitely will make this a regular stop on our beach trips.

Best fancy bar food in Surf City. Solid choice. Would recommend and will return again.

Great food (apps and burgers/sandwiches), especially if you are splurging and allow yourself a guilty pleasure or two. Pretty good beer and wine selection, and the service was excellent.

Great Place!!! Deliciousness!! We Had The Ribeye With Scallops and Brandy Pecan Pie For Dessert. One Of My New Fav Places Now-We Met The Owners, Their Son, And The Staff-So Down To EarthAnd Nice!! Bryce Was One Of The Best Bartenders I’ve Ever Had And He Was So Knowledgeable !! You Will Not Be Disappointed!!

Everything was delicious! Great vegetarian options, with a variety of options for tastes of all kinds. Seems to be a newer restaurant so it is clean and modern looking. Pam made sure to take great care of us. A great option if you’re visiting Surf City. We will be back.

Great little hidden spot. If you come across it, you won’t be disappointed. While it is on the pricier side, the food was fantastic! The service was great and the beer selection was local. Excellent little restaurant if you find yourself in the area.

We got the Tots and a Greek Burger. Both were excellent. Wish we hadn't waited so long to try this place.

Don't let the name deceive you, this is not a dive! The menu has a little bit of everything from salad, to burgers and seafood. The "totchos" with homemade tots are excellent, the mexican street corn was amazing and the caprese salad had the right tomato to mozzarella ratio. They have other foods such as scallops, tuna, wings, burgers and steak. The beer and wine list is extensive too with many draft, bottled or canned beer, wine by the glass or bottle, and cocktails. All this with excellent service makes for a great meal at Chug & Grub!

What’s not to love?!? We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome. The restaurant has a great selection of food. We had the Brie as an App and it was amazing. The kids menu is hilarious with selections titled “ I’m not hungry” “ I don’t care “ but the selection is sure to please. The beer menu is wonderful and the cocktail menu has something to please everyone. They also support locally sourced brewery’s. The service was fantastic, the waitress, the bartender and food runner all were pleasant and very prompt. The menu has a modern twist on lots of classics! Please try!

Burger had soggy buns and mac and cheese side was incredibly small and lacking. What I received was nothing like the pictures I've seen in other reviews that led me here. Maybe I caught them at an off day or maybe it's just a few good pictures posted. Seems like it could be a hit or a miss.

Fantastic service, great food, super clean - nice little gastropub in Surf City. We had the Totchos to start - holy cow. I’ll be dreaming of those until we come back. Their tater tots are home made and more like a tiny little potato cake, not your elementary school cafeteria tot. Then we split the western burger with a side of mac and cheese. Their burgers are served on brioche buns which, in my opinion, is the best bread to place a burger on. We’ll definitely be back!

I’m usually picky about little things when reviewing a restaurant so it’s rare to come across a meal that I am 100% satisfied with. The lamb chops are what my wife and I started with which absolutely blew our minds. They were extremely tender and served with an amazing fruit vinaigrette. Then we had sirloin tips which were also incredibly tender. Finally we had crab cakes served with an excellent Cajun sauce. The crab cakes also had green beans with garlic pieces and a bed of rice. To wrap up the entire meal, we went with a pecan pie that we both declared as the best we’ve ever had. The beer selection was great along the way. I recommend all of the food we had as well as the tangerine beer they have on draft.

I was skeptical. But this place is Amazing! Food was excellent. Service was friendly. AC was blasting. Burger 5 stars. Lamb 5 stars. Salad (who gets salad for dinner?) 5 stars. The kids menu is witty and just plain fun.Am I going back? Does a 1 legged duck swim in circles?

Excellent meatloaf burger and wings

Had take out for a group of 7. We had to call 6-7 times before we got someone to answer so don’t give up. The best item we had was totchos. Nachos with ribeye steak and tator tots (no chips). This was so good. Burgers and sides were great as well. It took 30 minutes so plan accordingly. The place itself is kind of small inside so I imagine it’s busy on the weekends.

We've been multiple times and we're never disappointed. Great service and food. Highly recommend the scallops, crab cakes and burgers. Delicious tots! Great drink selection.

Was disappointed with the meal tonight. I had the Crispy Duck but the skin was NOT crispy and had no seasoning. It was rubbery. The mashed potatoes had no seasoning either. Just a blob of them on the plate surrounded by the duck. Bland.

Slow getting food and when we did finally get it, some of it was cold. Taste was good.

Should be called excellent brews and gourmet food. The totchos are amazing and homemade. We will be back for more :)

Service was fine, food was not. My grilled cheese barely had any cheese on it and would not stick together. Looked like it was just a slice of American cheese on it. Overcooked fries and macaroni and cheese that had probably sat out for a while were also highlights of the meal.

The food here is fantastic!! Everything that our group got was delicious! Yes there is a little bit of a wait for the food to come out, but understand they make EVERYTHING in house. The server was very accommodating, and the steak was the best I have ever had. The crab cake was a little heavy on the old Bay seasoning but other than that it was phenomenal. Also make sure to get the tachos. You will not regret it. Thanks again for the great food.

Good food and good beer selection. Nicer than going into one of the chain restaurants. Service was good but that may be because we were the only ones in the place since it was early afternoon. Burgers were delicious and sandwiches came on a brioche bread that was awesome. Only thing that seemed odd was the location, in a strip mall next to a dollar store, felt very incongrous with the restaurant. Would definitely visit again and would recommend.

No complaints about this place. Have been there a couple of times and the food was good and descent service. Have had the steak with scallops which was really good to the bleu cheese burger.

Nice bar restaurant. Good craft beer selection and cocktails. Had the lamb burger. One of the best burgers I have ever had. Nice pub style menu. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is a hidden gem. Great beer selection and can't go wrong with any menu choice. I've had the meatloaf sandwich as well as the lamb chops. Both were great.

The food is astronomical! The ribeye steak I got I cut with a butter knife! The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable! The wait staff is amazing!

Tater tots are awesome. Wings are good. Sweet and spicy grilled cheese is most interesting and very good. Great barmaid and they have keno.

I couldn't believe this place was empty for lunch when we came here. People are definitely missing out! Great draft beer choices and interesting food dishes. I got the sweet and spicy grilled cheese with pineapple and jalapenos, so good!! And those homemade tater tots are delicious, not to be missed! Service is fantastic! Will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

My husband and I went yesterday for my birthday after doing a 7 hour drive down from MD - our server was super sweet and helpful with suggestions for drinks and food and discussing the general area as we have never been here. Grilled cheese was excellent along with our homemade tater tots and our cocktails ! We may just be back before we head home in a few days !!

We enjoyed our lunch today. They offer an elevated menu so there are plenty of selections to choose from. They have a great craft beer selection on tap...and a variety of wine. Our service was top notch. We will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful lunch! Their Lamb burgers ROCK! Fries and bun were Gluten Free! (They have regular buns, too, of course!)

Great gastropub and surprisingly unique menu. If you are a vegetarian, you must try the veggie burger , also the seared salmon is one of my favorites my wife loves the lamb chops. They have sports on about 7 or 8 TVs All adult libations and outdoor setting is nice on a summer evening. Give the a try!

Waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was yummy. We had Greek burger, side salad with ranch, crab soup and the ribeye tater tots appetizer.
